  • 50 Ideas That Changed the World of Work is an absolutely wonderful toolkit that will save you years of reading and workshops. The book doesn’t only summarise each idea in a very easy read, but specifies how to put the idea into practice and poses questions you will need to ask yourself in order to place the idea into your own context. I’m keeping this one in my rucksack wherever I go!

  • There are some books that simply stand out from the rest because they grab your attention the moment you see the title. And then there are the very, very few which not only do that but keep you riveted to the contents page after page, until you finish reading, knowing that you will be picking it up soon again. “50 ideas that changed the world of work” is a fitting testimony to the shoulders on whom we stand so that we can see better. A book whose time has come.

  • In a world of Leadership increasingly looking for a “Silver bullet” or “Secret sauce” - it is refreshing to find a book bold enough to look back at the tremendous research and work done over the years (and millennia!) in this complex but never more critical field. Too many “new ideas” are in fact re-hashed old approaches (which may well still be valid) - and I applaud the authors for their willingness to admit that much great work has already been created - and we run the risk of ignoring it if we only look at the shiny new book titles on the shelf. I encourage any leader or aspiring leader to dive into this book and identify some of the many golden nuggets that will aid your growth

Roger Minton - Former Head of Leadership development - Anglo American

  • In this brisk survey, corporate consultants Kourdi (Coaching Questions for Every Situation) and Besser offer advice on how leaders can embrace some of the most influential ideas and practices to come out of the business world. For instance, they describe how the Boston Consulting Group developed the growth share matrix, which tracks the success of products or services by charting their market growth relative to market share, and recommend using it to determine which popular products from one’s portfolio could fund the promotion of less established ones with high growth potential. Other entries focus on the human side of business, as when the authors detail self-help writer Dale Carnegie’s tips for “winning friends and influencing people” (e.g., “Help others see and understand how your ideas or proposals can benefit them personally”). Elsewhere, Kourdi and Besser discuss how Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs provides a blueprint for motivating workers, how former Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s “lean in” framework promises to produce more diverse workplaces, and how statistician Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s warnings about rare “black swan” events encourage taking preemptive action to address even unlikely risks. The succinct summaries serve as an abbreviated MBA syllabus, offering pragmatic guidance on implementing well-known business concepts and practices. This is perfect for executives and managers in a hurry. (May)

  • I wish I would have had this book through my entire professional career at all levels. How much time and stress I would have saved and how wonderful opportunity would have been to create a safe space for learning and growth feeling free to try and learn faster. This book is not about ideas or tools but Intelligence and curioisity. What Jeremy and Jonathan have done is to choose best and relevant ideas around management and leadership, share what it means and then focus on why it matters and how to get the best of it in practical terms (Including connections to the book, articles and videos). They help us to know if this idea could help us and how to really use it with suggested questions we should all make and answer ourselves. That is what I call Intelligence and it is covered in my favourite part in each idea, the Thought starters. The way Growth Mindset, Black Swam, Blue Ocean and many other ideas are explained makes this book recomendabled for every business professional no matter function or level. By the way, reading this book I realised that, after 40 years practice, I still discovered some tools I never heard of that have become really useful for what Im doing today
